CM Punk Shoots on Raw – 06/27/11

Even though he hates The Beatles, this guy is currently my favorite wrestler. Absolutely brilliant work on the mic and he completely blurred the lines between fiction and reality. Punk is one of the only reasons I still watch wrestling. With the greatness of the recent R-Truth heel turn and now this incendiary promo from CM Punk, I am really hoping that this shit PG era is put to death.

The Vancouver Riot

Get your Vancouver Riot memorabilia now. Available for a limited time only, the good folks over at Bang-On have decided to exploit this unfortunate incident which has made Canada look bad and turn it into profit. I would do the same thing. I love Bang-On….I want to get a Luchadore mask from there and start hosting the program with the mask on. Say what you want about my Oilers, but the fans don’t start looting Sears after losing Game 7. The only difference between the Canucks and the Oilers, Flames and the Senators is that the Canucks have let Canada down twice since 1993. I’m just kidding….I feel bad for Luongo and the Sedins, but they see more money in one year than I have ever seen in my whole life, so the sympathy is a bit illogical. Don’t worry Vancouver…it’s not the end of the world. There’s always next year. Detroit choked in ’95 and ’96, but won in ’97 and ’98….so have faith I guess. But then again, Vancouver doesn’t have Steve Yzerman.

Real Fans Don’t Riot

I Survived the Vancouver Riot

These videos remind me of when I finished San Andreas back in December of 2004.

VIP Records Logo

No offense to the other desi record labels, but VIP has officially unveiled the best record label logo of all time. As a vinyl junkie and as a proper Kuldeep Manak fan, this is just too awesome. Also, I can now order a physical copy of JK’s Gabru Panjab Dha since the label website is back up. Compact Discs are dead though….I really want this album on vinyl, but Tru-Skool and JK deserve your support so make sure you legally purchase the album. You know I should do a special on Tru-Skool in the upcoming weeks….showcase his genius, his influences and samples. Yeah, give me a few weeks.

Purchase Gabru Panjab Dha (Physical Copy) – Buy it now….I just did. It was $19.52 Canadian, which is nothing. Back in the day, I paid about 10 bucks for the ‘Can’t Nobody Hold Me Down’ single.

Tim Thomas AKA Canuck Killer

I don’t hate on Vancouver, but cheering for the Canucks when you’re from Edmonton doesn’t make much sense. As for this Boston Pizza scenario below, I thought BP’s was from Edmonton. Oh well, I can never hate on Boston Pizza. I’ve had some great memories there which included a few of my first dates with my girlfriend, a server accidentally spilling root beer on my testicles and indulging in the greatest Pepperoni/Mushroom Pizza possible.

As for Tim Thomas, I have never seen goaltending like that in my entire life and I’ve been watching hockey since 1991. Thomas is right up there with Patrick Roy and Martin Brodeur as one of the all-time greats. And the guy was never anxious….it’s like he was high on benzodiazepines. I wish I had his confidence.

Now as for Luongo, I hope Vancouver cuts him a break. It’s not like anyone was scoring for the team. I’m not a Canucks fan, but don’t forget that Luongo was instrumental in Canada winning a Gold Medal.

Happy 40th Birthday

Wow, Pac would have been 40 today! That’s a bit unsettling. At 26, I am now older than he ever was but that makes you appreciate his talent a bit more. Now the best way to celebrate Shakur’s birthday is to listen to Me Against the World while driving around at night. That album is drenched in paranoia and it’s a pure nighttime record. Off the top of my head, other nighttime records recommended by the 5 River Beat are DJ Shadow’s Endtroducing and Cypress Hill’s Temples of Boom.
